About Us

Why would anyone devote a website to Granite City, Illinois?

The answer is simple. Members of the class of 1976 appreciate the quality of life and education that we obtained in our hometown. Sure, the city is old and some it is need of repairs, but not only do we remember what Granite City used to be, we also think Granite can come back.

Think about the possiblities! There are some grand homes in GC. You might drive down Grand Avenue to see a few. The early settlers for this community were hard working and it shows because a number of buildings are still standing today.

Immigrants came to Granite to find a better way of living and often went to work in the steel mills and other industries around town or across the river in St. Louis.

While some of us remain in Granite, others are miles away, but we still have fond memories of growing up in Granite and of the places around Granite City!
